We all get Acne as a teenager, some worse than others – I had bad acne as teenager and thought it was the worst thing under the sun, but there is a cure and your face will eventually clear up.
Acne is a disorder of the skin caused by inflammation of the skin glands and hair follicles.
There are three main causes of acne.
1. Over production of sebum
2. Clogged pores from dirt and debris of dead skin cells
3. Infection from bacteria in the sebaceous gland
Sebum blocks pores in the skin to form whiteheads, which form under the skin, and blackheads, which are open to the air. Blackheads are black because the air causes a chemical reaction with the oily debris inside, not because they are dirty. Yeast and bacteria in the skin cause whiteheads to become pimples that are inflamed, red, and sometimes pus-filled.
Milia are tiny white bumps that occur when normally sloughed skin cells get trapped in small pockets on the surface of the skin. They are common in newborns across the nose and upper cheeks and can also be seen on adult skin. The bumps disappear as the surface is worn away and the dead skin is sloughed. In newborns, the bumps usually disappear within the first few weeks of life. However, for adults, milia may persist indefinitely.
Treatment is usually not indicated in children. Adults can have them removed by a physician for cosmetic improvement.
All teens experience some form of acne during puberty. It is part of the natural process of change in your body. For some individuals, however, acne can be severe and difficult to handle emotionally. Many teens become very self-conscious about their looks, especially when confronted with media coverage that values clear skin.
As men and women grow out of adolescence, acne usually gets better. However, acne can sometimes continue after adolescence for some people. For some individuals hormonal changes occurring later in life can cause acne in their adult years.
The best way to treat pimples, is not to pick at them as the pus will spread. Picking at your acne all the time will leave you with a nasty scar for life. Girls should not wear makeup while they have acne as the makeup covers up your pores and will aggravate your skin even more, If you have to wear makeup make sure that you wash your skin thoroughly before you go to bed
